Events

Members can book onto events and free sailing sessions using the club calendar.


As a volunteer-run organization we rely on help from our members to make our events successful. Taking part is also a great way to meet other members. If you would like to join in, or simply find out more, email us at dinghy@clyde.org. 

Key Dates for 2026

Walk the Loch - Thursday 2 January

Join us for our annual walk around the loch shores. Leaving the clubhouse at 12 noon, we navigate muddy patches and scramble over fences before returning for refreshments and a chat. Bring old clothes and boots.


Boats out - Saturday 21 March

Come and help get boats out and rigged for the start of the season.


Instructor training - TBD

Refresher day for instructors.


Free sailing starts - Monday 13 April

Stewarding allows members to use club boats for scheduled free sailing sessions.


Racing starts - 16 April

Go head-to-head in a series of dinghy races with other club members.


Solo / Streaker traveller - Saturday 18 April

The Scottish Solo fleet and Streaker fleet visit Bardowie for a class regatta.


Evening lessons start - Monday 20 April

10 weeks of training. Book sailing lessons on the club calendar for Monday, Wednesday or Friday evenings.


Open day - Saturday 25 April

Everyone is welcome to the loch to see what sailing is about. Bring friends and family for a trip on a dinghy or a power boat.


Spring regatta - Saturday 16 May

An afternoon of racing between club members for prizes. Sail in a club boat or your own, whether single and double-handed. Only RYA Level 2 (adult) / Stage 3 (children) is required.


Open day / social sailing - Saturday 13 June

Everyone is welcome to the loch to try sailing before Summer School.


Race Officer training - Saturday 13 June

Learn how to help run races.


Social sailing - Friday 26 June

A BBQ on shore and some sailing fun on the loch. Teams of club Flag Officers and junior members also complete for the Brazill Trophy.


Duncan's regatta - Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July

The Scottish Challenger Traveller visits Bardowie with training and racing for disabled sailors.


Scottish Hansa Championships - Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July

The UK Hansa Class holds the Scottish championships at Bardowie.


Summer school starts -  Monday 29 June

Six weeks of training and fun. Book sailing lessons on the club calendar for weekday blocks (Monday to Friday).


Social sailing - Saturday 18 July

A BBQ on shore and an afternoon of sailing fun on the loch.


Summer school ends - Friday 7 August

All great things must come to an end.


Club regatta - Saturday 15 August

A set of races for all club sailors, including those who have just graduated from summer school. The winning junior sailor will be awarded the Cairnie cup. Non-members are welcome to join in for a donation to the RNLI.


Evening lessons start - Monday 17 August

4 weeks of training, intended to allow members to complete requirements for RYA levels.


Social sailing - Saturday 29 August

A BBQ on shore and an afternoon of sailing fun on the loch.


Racing ends - 10 September

Last day of the autumn series (although there may be a winter series for the hardy).


Evening sailing ends - Friday 11 September

Stewarding ends for free sailing sessions in the evenings.


Laird trophy - Saturday 12 September

Teams of two from Scottish schools compete using our fleet of Fevas.


Weekend sailing ends - Sunday 18 October

Stewarding ends for free sailing sessions  at the weekends.


AGM - Thursday 22 October (7pm)

Find out how the club is run and take part.


Boats away - Saturday 31 October (10am-3pm)

Tidy up time. Help get things safely stored for the winter.
