Go Racing

Racing is a great way to develop your sailing skills, with friendly and exciting competition on the loch. If you are able to sail independently (YSS level 3 / NSS level 2) you are welcome to come along and join in.

During the main sailing season (April till around the end of September) we have race training on Tuesday evenings, and the actual racing is organized into three sets of races: the Spring, Summer and Autumn Series.

We also run a Winter Series on Sunday afternoons later in the year if you are keen.

Participants should make themselves familiar with the general race instructions and the specific ‘Notice of Race’. Information is shared on a club racing WhatsApp group.

Other racing events going on during the year typically include:

  • Club Regatta – a chance for all members to race, with multiple categories for different ages and abilities
  • Solo Traveller – the Scottish Solo Traveller Series holds an annual fixture at Bardowie
  • Scottish Junior Traveller – children racing in Toppers, Optimists and Fevas
  • Duncan’s Regatta – a weekend set of races held as part of the Sailability Scotland Traveller Series, and sponsored by Duncan’s Yacht Chandlers
  • Laird Trophy – teams of two sailors from Scottish secondary schools compete at Bardowie using our fleet of Fevas
  • Brazill Trophy – the Bardowie cadets challenge the flag officers each year to see who really knows how to sail
